City Historic Review Commission (CHRC)
Purpose
The CHRC shall have the powers and be the final determining body:
- To review and approve the appropriateness of the application of any property owner regarding the demolition, construction, preservation, restoration or rehabilitation of any home, commercial establishment or other structure, or new construction within the Piqua Historical District.
- To designate local landmarks as defined within § 99.06.C.
- To confirm all work on landmark buildings conforms to the City’s historic preservation goals and the guidance provided by The Secretary of the Interior's Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties with Guidelines for Preserving Rehabilitating, Restoring & Reconstructing Historic Buildings, 2017 (see https://www.nps.gov/tps/standards.htm).
- To conduct a continuing survey of cultural resources in the community according to guidelines established by the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO).
- To complete additional responsibilities as determined by mutual agreement between the SHPO and the CLG, including review of nominations for the National Register.
Applications
The City Historic Review Commission hears cases related to Landmark Designations in the Historic District and Certificates of Appropriateness within the Historic District Boundary.

Term
The term length is five (5) years to conclude on December 31 of each year. Members appointed in 2024 will have staggered terms as the Commission is established.
