MEETING MINUTES

Don Ruffner approved the meeting minutes as corrected by Melissa Reed and Judy Terry seconded the motion.

ITEM NO. 1 SPRING PLANTING

Bob Graeser thanked Jean Frantz for her continued efforts to make another city planting possible. Jean Frantz single-handedly generated 90% of the trees for this planting. Bob Graeser now has list of thirty-five trees located throughout the city, he said that he would begin to work to find a group of volunteers and coordinate with the city staff to organize the planting.

The date for the spring planting was changed to May 10th, after reviewing with the street department, the committee needed to move it to a time that was not as close to the Spring Clean Up.

ITEM NO. 2 ARBOR DAY CEREMONIES

Bob Graeser invited everyone to the awards Program of the Tree City USA in Oakwood, on April 24th at 10:30 to 2:00. He asked if anyone would like to attend with him.

The City's Arbor Day ceremonies will be held at the Piqua Junior High at 11:00-11:30 A.M. The event will include a short presentation about Arbor Day history, a reading of the junior high students essay's and a tree planting.

Bob Graeser said that he contacted Access Piqua Television Association so they could be in attendance. He said that he would make sure that all the proper dignitaries would be given the option be present.

ITEM NO.3 CANAL PLACE TREES

The committee discussed the options of the trees in the rear of the Canal Place parking area. There was a vote taken and it was passed that the committee agreed that the trees should be removed. It was also decided that the condition will be reviewed to see who will be responsible for the expense of the trees removal.

The committee will need to present a recommended list of tree(s) for replacement before the letter is sent to the property owners.
