D.A.R.E. Role Models and D.A.R.E. Officer Kris Lee
 
 
WHEREAS, every year the President of the United States declares a National D.A.R.E. Day in the United States; and

WHEREAS, the National D.A.R.E. Day was celebrated on Thursday, April 10th this year which marks D.A.R.E.'s 25th Anniversary; and

WHEREAS, for 25 years, Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) has given school children across America an opportunity to gain the skills they need to avoid involvement in drugs, gangs, and violence; and

WHEREAS, our National D.A.R.E. Day, we recognize those individuals who teach America's children how to resist peer pressure and live productive, drug-free, and violence-free lives; and

WHEREAS, for more than two decades, D.A.R.E. programs have taught America's youth about the devastating effects of drug use and encouraged them to lead drug-free and violence-free lives of purpose by opening the lines of communication between law enforcement, educators and students, all those involved in D.A.R.E. help save lives and stop drug use before it starts; and

WHEREAS, youth development programs like D.A.R.E. encourage our Nation's children to make healthy choices that lead to a better future; and

WHEREAS, this year's National D.A.R.E. Day is an opportunity to renew our commitment to building strong, drug-free communities.

NOW, THERFORE I, Mayor Thomas D. Hudson, do hereby urge all Piqua citizens to recognize our collective responsibility to combat every form of drug abuse and to support all those who work to help our children avoid drug use and violence in the City of Piqua.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused to be affixed the Seal of the City of Piqua, Ohio, this 21st day of April 2008.
