The City of Piqua has announced that
it has withdrawn its nomination for Govfresh.com 2013 City of
the Year, citing problems with the administration of the award.
"On December 18th, it was clearly stated that the winner of
the award would be announced. There was no word until December
20th, when we heard that that the group was going to continue to
accept nominations until January 10th and that the top three
vote-getters would not be finalists," said William Lutz.
Lutz continued, "With the
changes in these rules in the middle of the competition, the
city did not feel it was appropriate to continue. We have
reached out to the individuals at GovFresh.com and expressed our
concerns with their program. Above all else, we are disappointed
for our residents. Our residents put a considerable amount of
time and effort in this program, and their efforts should not go
unnoticed or unappreciated."
