The City of Piqua and Mainstreet
Piqua, Inc. are encouraging local residents and
businesses to help our lights shine this Christmas season.
Through this cooperative effort, both the City of Piqua and
Mainstreet Piqua, Inc. are actively soliciting donations for new
Christmas lights to place in trees along the streets in Downtown
Piqua.
"Our community has done a
great job with the multiple streetscaping projects that have
been undertaken over the past few years," said William
Lutz, Development Program Manager. "At this point, we need
additional lights to get these new trees lit and to fill in the
lights on those trees that have grown."
"We have already received
tremendous support from the French Fund of the Piqua Community
Foundation and Buckeye Insurance Group for this important
project," stated Lorna Swisher,, Executive Director of
Mainstreet Piqua, Inc.
Residents and businesses are
encouraged to make a donation by signing up on the city's
website and clicking on the "Christmas Lights Needed!"
link on the front page. For every individual, business, family
or group that provides a $50 donation, the City of Piqua will
recognize them by placing their name on a sign that will be
placed at McCulloch Plaza throughout the Christmas Season.
Donations should be mailed to Friends of Mainstreet Piqua, Box
1703, Piqua, OH 45356. All donations for the program are fully
tax-deductible.
