October has been designated National
Community Planning Month by the American Planning Association (APA)
as a way to highlight the role of residents public officials in
making choices that determine the future of their community. The
month-long celebration is an opportunity to recognize how
planning shapes Piqua, and how the work of citizen and
professional planners creates communities of lasting value.
Planning is the process of
envisioning, mapping or otherwise conceiving how a community
will look, grow, and define itself-its characteristics,
attributes, and identity. As our communities continue to change
and grow, planners play an important role in ensuring that new
developments are designed and built in harmony with existing
surroundings..
Planning efforts such as the PLAN
IT PIQUA 2007 Comprehensive Plan Update, ReDO PIQUA
Redevelopment Opportunities Plan, and the Downtown Riverfront
Redevelopment Plan, all provide great examples of planning at
work in the Piqua community. For more information on these plans
and others please visit the Planning
& Zoning page.
