Scenario-Based
CART (Child Abduction Response Team) Exercise in Piqua
(Media Release: 12MR05) |
| |
The Tri-County Child Abduction
Response Team (CART) is conducting an exercise of their
Coordination and Communication functions using a scenario-based
exercise in Piqua, Ohio. The purpose of this release is to calm
any concerns anyone might have to see a large number of police
and search and rescue personnel on the mornings of Wednesday,
September 19 and Saturday, September 22.
The Tri-County CART team is comprised of various local, state,
and federal agencies that operate in Darke, Miami, and Shelby
Counties. They have all agreed to work together in the event of
a child abduction when assistance is requested from any of the
agencies. Various planning meetings, training events, and
public-information events have been conducted over the past five
years. This will be the largest “full-scale” test.
The Piqua Police Department is a part of this team and is
hosting this opportunity to for the team to test some of their
functions. Wednesday will focus on coordination of investigative
resources, and Saturday will be a test of search-and-rescue
resource coordination.
