The 21st Annual Piqua Fine Art Show
is just around the corner and Piqua Arts Council is proud to
announce its selection for show judge. PAC has invited Ed
Thornburg, lecturer in Fine Arts at Indiana University East to
select the award winners. Thornburg holds both a Master of Arts
in Education and Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art degrees from Ball
State University. He is an accomplished juror and artist. His
works in metal have won awards in the HWD (Height, Width, Depth)
Exhibit at Rosewood Gallery in Kettering, Best of Show at Adkins
Arboretum Juried Competition in Ridgely, MD and many more. He
has judged shows in Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky including the
Area 9 Competition in Richmond, IN.
As the judge of the 21st Annual
Piqua Fine Art Show, he will have the honor of judging
approximately 200 works of art from local and regional artists
in a variety of categories including drawings, paintings, water
colors, photography, three-dimensional works, and mixed media.
The exhibit opens with a Gala Awards Reception on September 12,
2103 from 6pm to 8pm at Apple Tree Gallery. Tickets for the Gala
are on sale now at Readmore's Hallmark, the Arts Council's
office and on the Piqua Arts Council's website. The exhibit then
opens to the public September 13, 2013 during normal AppleTree

In addition to the art show, PAC
has collected 15 works of art for an artwork raffle. Tickets for
the raffle can be purchased at Readmore's Hallmark, the PAC
office, 427 N. Main St., and from board members and Piqua Visual
Art Society members. One winner will be chosen and they will
receive their pick of the 15 works of art. The rest of the
pieces will then be made available to the public for $150 each.
The drawing will take place on September 12th as part of the
Gala Awards Reception.
