The Piqua Police Department along
with Main Street Piqua, Piqua Heritage Festival, Southview
Neighborhood Association and other city departments and
neighborhoods will be celebrating National Night Out at lower
Mote Park near the intersection of South and College Street from
6-8 p.m. Tuesday, August 7.
This National Night Out is bigger
and better than previous years, with more departments and
organizations participating. The evening will start at 6:00 p.m.
with April Grove singing the National Anthem and the Piqua
Police Department Honor Guard raising the flag. The Honor Guard
will be performing at various times throughout the event. Feel N
Lucky the balloon clown will be making balloon characters for
the children. Western-Southern Life and Financial will sponsor
kid DNA. Thanks to Ulbrich's Hometown Market there will be free
hotdogs. McDonald's will be providing orange drink. The Kiwanis
will be offering snow cones and there will be popcorn and cotton
candy available while supplies last. The Piqua Power
Distribution department will be on hand with their power bike.
The fire department will have their smoke trailer. Other city
departments present with events for the kids include Fair
Housing and the health department. County agencies represented
include Miami County Victim Witness, Family Connections, and the
Family Abuse Shelter.
Also new this year will be a free
helmet give-away. Headlining the event will be the very popular
variety band "Spittin' Image." We hope to see as many
citizens of Piqua as possible at this event and we can all
"Give Crime a Going Away Party."
