Robbery Trend (Joint Issue with Sidney PD)

 Piqua Police Department

The Sidney & Piqua Police Departments working in a joint effort is seeking help from the Miami Valley in solving a series of robberies. In an eight day time span four robberies have occurred in Sidney and Piqua. Similarities in all four tend to indicate that all four may be inner connected.

The first occurred on Tuesday, July 22 at around 10:49 PM at the Checkered Flag Drive Thru located at 1151 Wapakoneta Ave, Sidney OH.

The second occurred on Sunday, July 27 at around 9:15 PM at the Oasis Drive Thru located at 1222 Michigan Street, Sidney OH.

The third occurred on Sunday, July 27 at around 10:39 PM in the parking lot of the Sidney Food Town located at 1010 Wapakoneta Ave, Sidney OH.

The fourth occurred on Tuesday, July 29 at around 10:38 PM at the Spring Thru Drive Thru, located at 225 Spring Street, Piqua OH.

On all four robberies the suspect's height, weight, manner of facial concealment, and time of day are consistent. In three of the four robberies a similar type of knife and threat was used to gain compliance from the clerks working in the establishments. On all four incidents the robber entered and fled the business area on foot. In the Piqua incident the robbery suspect after leaving the business was observed fleeing in a white colored minivan. A picture of the robbery suspect in the Piqua incident is posted on the Piqua Police Department's Facebook page.

Both agencies are seeking help from the public. Anyone with information about these robberies can call either the Sidney Police Department at 937-498-2351 or the Piqua Police Department Tipline at 937-615-TIPS (8477).

A reminder to all business establishments to stay alert to your surroundings and environment especially around closing time which tends to be the prime time when these businesses were targeted.
