Special Weather Alert Siren Testing

Recently, maintenance was performed on the City's weather alert siren system. On Wednesday, July 2nd at 10:00 AM a test of the weather alert sirens will be conducted throughout the city.

There are 5 weather alert sirens throughout the city. They are located at Pitsenbarger Park, R.M. Davis Park (High Street and Lambert Drive), the Electric Substation on N. County Road 25A, Upper Fountain Park, and East Main Street by the river. The sirens are tested on the first Saturday and the second Wednesday of each month from March through October at 10:00 a.m. (they will be tested on those times in July).

These sirens are designed to be a means of alerting anyone who is outdoors of a tornado or severe weather warning. Should one hear the weather alert sirens go off they should take shelter immediately in the safest place available. It is advisable to leave the shelter area only when you feel that the tornado or severe storm has passed.
