Second Event of the Riverfront Concert Series Scheduled for Saturday, June 28, 2014

The Logo for Rock Piqua! Riverfront Concert Series - The logo was designed by Kaitlyn Barlage, a senior in Upper Valley Career Center's Design & Print Technologies curriculum. The Rock Piqua! concert events will be free to the public and held on June 14, June 28, and July 26. Each event will take place on a Saturday evening, from 7 to 11 PM, at Lock Nine Riverfront Park in downtown Piqua.

How do you top sunny skies, paddleboards on the Great Miami River, gourmet hot dogs topped with mac n'cheese, crowd camaraderie and the pulsating sounds of contemporary blues rockers? Given the popularity of the new riverfront concert series entitled Rock Piqua! which drew approximately 1,800 attendees Saturday evening, organizers hope to repeat the feat on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Lock Nine Park.

"Both bands put on an amazing show (this past weekend)," commented Jordan Knepper, executive director of the Piqua Arts Council. "We're glad the weather cooperated and made for an excellent evening. The turnout and support was amazing."

The second performance of the summer series will feature Covington's own Clark Manson whose rise to fame as a country singer and songwriter is making headlines in Nashville and beyond these days. Mark Cantwil, also a up-and-comer singer and songwriter, is scheduled to kick off the evening performance which runs from 7 to 11 p.m.

Admission to the June 28 Rock Piqua! concert is free and open to the public. There is no rain date, according to organizers Lorna Swisher of Mainstreet Piqua and PAC's Knepper along with "headliner" sponsors Positively Promoting Piqua (PPP), the Piqua Community Foundation, the City of Piqua, Mullenbrock & Associates and Polysource. "The entire community seems to be rallying behind this event and all of the sponsors are greatly appreciated."

Food vendors scheduled to appear at Lock 9 Park, 125 E. Water St., include Piqua's own Susie's Big Dipper and the Harvest Cuisine food truck of Dayton which specializes in foods prepared with locally grown products. Beer and wine will also be available for sale along with soft drinks and water. In addition Rock Piqua! T-shirts will be available in sizes small through 2XL. Attendees are advised to bring their lawn chairs and blanks. Items prohibited include pets, outside alcohol, and firearms or contraband. Parking is available on either side of the Linear Park, between Main and Wayne Streets, Canal Place and behind Piqua's municipal building. Portable restroom are available and Anderson Security will be standing at entry points to check identification.

Clark Manson - Rock Piqua! Headliner on June 28, 2014

Clark Manson - Rock Piqua! Headliner on June 28, 2014

Clark Manson reportedly discovered his "love for music" at three years of age when he recited every word to Billy Ray Cyrus' "Achy Break Heart" and aspired one day to fill the boots of country legend George Straight.

The Covington native moved to Fairborn where he attended Wright State University. It became obvious that his passion to become a country artist "was a dream" he just wouldn't walk away from. He soon began packing the bars of several universities and the 23-year-old knew his passion for the music industry "couldn't be broken".

Manson, whose band is scheduled to appear at this year's Country Concert in Fort Loramie on Friday, July 11, was officially sponsored by Jagermeister USA in the summer of 2013. He released his first debut album "Running With the Night" in November which quickly climbed the iTune charts, peaking at No. 30 on the day of its release. The album also checked in at No. 5 on the Billboard "Heatseekers" chart the same month and has received recognition worldwide by some of Manson's 33,000 Twitter followers and fans. Since the initial album release, Manson has "swamped the ticket booths, selling out a number of shows and quickly becoming a notable country vision in states ranging from Wisconsin all the way to Texas."

In between many late night shows and road shows, Manson heads to Nashville as he undertakes a new summer EP scheduled for release this month,. "I've learned early on that persistence and hard work will get you a long way in life," noted Manson. "Every day, I strive to be a better person, artist and businessman." With an abundance of talent and tenacity, Manson is continuing his quest to the top and is scheduled to appear with "some of Nashville's finest" this summer as well as headlining multiple festivals.

Mark Cantwil, who hails from western Ohio, claims his small town roots are "the driving force behind the inspiring lyrics and music" found on his debut album "Last Chance Johnny" and his latest album "Diggin' On You" scheduled for release in early 2015. Both albums, he adds, "capture the spirit, the struggle and joys of everyday life". The Americana roots of heavy topics and storytelling are the foundation of Cantwil's music.

He both tours and plays live shows with his band "Mark Cantwil and the Punch-Drunk Heroes". The line up consists of Brett Mullins on lead guitar/vocals; Tim Hart, bass/vocals, Jon Menger, drums; Adam Ranly, acoustic guitar/harmonica/vocals; and Jon York, organ/acoustic guitar/vocals. Cantwill and his band "guarantee to deliver a higher energy guitar driven show with full vocals and harmonies."

Cantwil's music can be found on iTunes, Amazon, CD Baby, Spotify, Xbox Music as well as his website www.markcantwil.com & www.reverbnation.com/markcantwil.
