On Wednesday, April 2, 2008 the
Piqua Historical Area will begin its 2008 season. The site is
open Wednesday - Saturday 9:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Sunday and
Holidays Noon - 5:00 p.m. The site tells the story of the early
contact between the Woodland Indians and the Euro-American, the
story of life on the Ohio frontier in the first portion of the
1800's, and the construction, use, and eventual decline of
Ohio's canals. Visitors can visit the home of early settler and
founding father John Johnston, ride the replica canal boat
General Harrison, and tour the Historic Indian and Canal Museum.
Special events are held throughout the season that brings to
life many of the people and events that are the rich tapestry of
this area's history.
COST: $7.00/adults,
$3.00/students, Ohio Historical Society members and Piqua
Friends free, AAA and Senior discounts are honored.
