The City of Piqua has learned that
it has been honored by the website GovFresh
as their "Small City of the Year" for 2013. While the
city is honored to be awarded this honor, this award did not
come without some controversy.
"Originally, there was no
"Small City of the Year" category, but the category
was later added and the deadline was extended by the award
organizer," said William Lutz, Development Program Manager.
"Once the organizers changed the rules in the middle of the
contest, the city contacted the organizer and let them know we
were pulling out. The organizers took our concerns and were very
contrite and still extended this honor to our community."
exists to promote and bring awareness to excellent and
innovative practices in citizen engagement, citizen involvement
and implementing technology to increase civic awareness.
