The Patrol Bureau is under the command of
the Deputy Chief/Patrol Bureau
Commander. The Patrol
Bureau consists of a Deputy Chief/Bureau Commander (Patrol
Bureau), four (4) Lieutenant/Watch Commanders, and twenty-one

police officers.
The Patrol Bureau includes the Patrol Section. The Chief of
Police assigns Lieutenants as Patrol Bureau Watch Commanders
who report directly to the Bureau Commander. Each Watch
consists of a Watch Commander, an Officer-in-Charge, and the
number of Police Officers as determined by the Chief of
Police. Individual officers may be assigned to work
shifts that overlap the regular shifts and provide additional
manpower during peak periods. These officers are
supervised by the on duty Watch Commander or
Officer-in-Charge. The Patrol Bureau Watches provide
continuous twenty-four (24) hour per day patrol coverage and
response to calls for service response for the City of
Piqua. The Patrol Bureau is responsible for the
prevention of crime, suppressing disturbances, apprehension of
offenders, responding to calls for service, rendering aid,
relief and assistance to citizens as circumstances require,
preliminary and follow-up investigations of criminal acts,
preparation of reports as necessary, and presentation of court
testimony. |
