| The Piqua Police Department is dedicated to being responsive
to the needs of the community in the delivery of exceptional
police services. The focus upon neighborhood revitalization
gives the police department and each neighborhood an opportunity
to develop a problem solving partnership that emphasizes
positive improvement within the neighborhood.
In order to facilitate this arrangement, the Piqua Police
Department is assigning each organized neighborhood a
Neighborhood Liaison Officer. The officer will attend
neighborhood functions and serve as a contact for the
neighborhood and its residents. The officer will also coordinate
the use of police resources within the neighborhood to address
chronic problems. During uncommitted times, the Neighborhood
Liaison Officer will work in his/her assigned neighborhood.
The Neighborhood Liaison Officer does not replace the regular
police response to crimes and incidents that require immediate
response. Rather, the Neighborhood Liaison Officer is a resource
for problems that may be chronic or pervasive within a
neighborhood. Examples of this would be speeding traffic or
structures being used for illegal activities. In instances where
residents are unsure of what can be done, the Neighborhood
Liaison Officer can provide guidance and problem solving ideas.
Neighborhood Liaison Officers work patrol schedules and may
not work every day, but they can be contacted by calling the
police department at 778-2027 or by e-mail:
Shawnee Neighborhood - Officer Bill Weaver -

Southview Neighborhood - Officer Sean Stein - email

neighborhood, contact Chief Wayne Willcox for information on how
the Police Department can help you start a neighborhood
association. |
