Photo Gallery
July 14, 2007

On July 14, 2007, Protect Our Water Ways (POWW) conducted a river sweep of a 16-mile section of the Great Miami River from the southern part of Sidney through the City of Piqua.  This river sweep was the 4th annual event conducted by POWW.  POWW is a group established in 2004 by Piqua's Jeff Lange to help protect and clean the waterways in this area.

Volunteers manned canoes and others volunteers walked along the banks of the river.  In addition, volunteers drove trucks to haul the trash away.

The "numbers" from 2007 sweep include: 138 volunteers, 16 miles of shore line, 5 pick-up trucks, 2 dump trucks, 1 crane, 1 4-wheeler, 1 Gator, 193 tires and 20,000 pounds of trash!
