Phase V of the Linear Park is
scheduled for completion in 2003. This section will
connect the completed portions of the Linear Park. This
new phase will start at the Water Plant and will end at Lock
Nine Park. A grant from ODNR is being used for this
section. This phase of the project is being built by city
employees with only a small portion of the project (some
concrete work) being completed by others.
This phase will be approximately 4.5 miles in length. It
is located along the former Miami and Erie Canal tow path (north
of town) and along the Great Miami River. On the portion
of the pathway that runs along Riverside Drive, it will be
located in a cut of levee of the Great Miami River with a
retaining wall along that entire distance (approximately 2000
feet).
This section of the Linear Park will pass under three roadways
with no grade conflict and over three waterways. This
section will also include a scenic overlook of the river and a view of the
Miami and Eerie Canal Guard lock.
Once Phase V of the Linear Park is completed, the Linear Park
will have more than 12 miles of asphalt-paved pathway dedicated
to pedestrians, bikers and skaters. |
