| The Development Department is
continually active in searching for grant programs to help
provide financial assistance to our residents and businesses to
help grow and strengthen the community. Here are some of the
other activities and programs that the Development Department is
working on.
EPA Brownfield Assessment
Grant
The Development Department recently provided a proposal to the
U. S. Environmental Protection Agency for $200,000. Under the
program, the City would work with owners of abandoned industrial
and commercial properties to conduct Phase I and Phase II
environmental assessments funded by the grant.
Tier II Downtown
Revitalization Grant
The Development Department recently provided a proposal to the
Ohio Department of Development for $400,000. Under the program,
the City would work with downtown property owners to provide
building improvements to downtown buildings.
Downtown Sound System Project
The Development Department, working with other city departments
and Mainstreet Piqua, Inc. recently received funding to install
a sound system in Downtown Piqua.
NatureWorks and Land and Water
Conservation Grant
The Development Department, working with the Public Works
Department has submitted funding requests to the Ohio Department
of Natural Resources for various park and recreational funding.
Preserve America
The Development Department led a community-wide effort to have
the City of Piqua become a designated "Preserve
America" community. The city received the designation from
First Lady Laura Bush in 2007. At the time, Piqua was one of
only seven communities designated as a "Preserve

Strategic Research
The Development Department has provided demographic data and
information about the community for other city departments,
developers, non-profit agencies and other stakeholders.
