Refuse Collection
 
City of Piqua Ohio Refuse Collection
 
Refuse Collection within the City of Piqua is provided by the Sanitation Department on your assigned day.  Garbage and refuse containers should be placed on the curb or at the alley by 6:30 a.m. on the day of collection.  To find out your specific collection day, and pick-up location on your property, please contact the Sanitation Department.  

Below is the 2012 Trash/Refuse/Recycling collection schedule for holidays:

MLK, Jr. Day January 16, 2012 One day late all week
     
President's Day February 20, 2012 One day late all week
     
Memorial Day May 28, 2012 One day late all week
     
Independence Day July 4, 2012 On schedule Monday-Tuesday
One day late Wednesday-Friday
     
Labor Day September 3, 2012 One day late all week
     
Thanksgiving November 22-23, 2012 On schedule Monday-Wednesday
One day late Thursday-Friday
     
Christmas December 24-25, 2012 On schedule Monday
One day late Tuesday-Friday
 
Containers
 
Containers shall be constructed of heavy metal, heavy gauge plastic or durable plastic bags. The container and the contents shall not exceed 75 pounds
 
Special Items
 
Discarded appliances, furniture, metal, water heaters, carpet, mattresses, tires, plumbing fixtures and other large items not suitable for regular trash collection will be picked up when placed at normal trash collection locations on your collection day. Items too large for the truck, such as swing sets, garage doors, etc. must be dismantled into small sections
 
Brush & Tree Trimmings
 
All twigs, branches, limbs, and other trimmings of tree will be collected only if less than six feet in length and less than four inches in diameter. Brush and tree trimmings must be tied into bundles no larger than 24 inches in diameter or placed in bags or cans. Keep separate from trash.
 
Grass Clippings
 
Grass clippings and yard waste must be placed in containers or plastic bags, and clearly separated from any garbage or trash. They will be collected on the same days as regular trash. 
 
Leaves
 
If leaves are bagged or placed in containers for collection by the Sanitation Department, they should be placed at your normal collection site and clearly separate from trash and grass. The City Street Department will collect unbagged leaves only during the fall.
 
Unacceptable Items
 
The following are items that will not be collected by the City:
 
  • Concrete, rocks, bricks and dirt
  • Tree stumps and large shrubs
  • Construction and demolition materials, such as: roofing and plaster, large amounts of lumber, railroad ties 
  • Hazardous materials and liquids including paint, pesticides, gasoline, herbicides, etc.
Materials transported into the city from outside corporate limits are not acceptable at any time.
