Brownfield Development

Since 2006, the City of Piqua has received numerous grant awards totaling over $3.7 million to address brownfield development.  Brownfield development is the process of redeveloping underutilized sites while remediation of environmental issues occurs.  The City of Piqua relies heavily on grant funds from state and federal sources to assist in the redevelopment of these sites.

RIVERFRONT MILL DISTRICT

The 26 acre Riverfront Mill District is located just south of downtown and is adjacent to the Great Miami River.  With a history of commercial and industrial uses, the area has been challenged in past redevelopment efforts.  However, given the district’s location and existing assets, the area is a prime area for redevelopment.
