Sealed Bids for the City of Piqua 2008
Street Resurfacing Program will be received by the City of Piqua,
Public Works Director, 201 W. Water Street, Piqua, Ohio, until
2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 27, 2008 at which time they will be
publicly opened and read.
In general, the Work consists of
the planing of asphalt, adjustment of manholes and water valves,
placement of an asphalt surface course and pavement markings on
various streets throughout the city.
The Bidding Documents, which include drawings and specifications,
may be examined and obtained at the City of Piqua Engineering
Department, 201 W. Water Street, Piqua, Ohio. The cost for the
Bidding Documents, which includes drawings and specifications, is
$30.00 and is nonrefundable.
Bids must be signed and submitted on the separate bidding forms
included in the Bidding Documents, and shall be accompanied by
either a Bid Guaranty Bond, certified check, cashier's check, or
letter of credit on a solvent bank in the amount of not less than
5% of the amount of the Bid, subject to conditions provided in the
Instructions to Bidders. The successful BIDDER will be required to
furnish a satisfactory Performance Bond in the amount of 100% of
the Bid.
Each Bid must contain the full name of the party or parties
submitting the Bid and all persons interested therein. Each BIDDER
must submit evidence of its experiences on projects of similar
size and complexity. The owner intends and requires that this
project be completed no later than August 29, 2008. The concrete
work associated with the installation of the handicap ramps on the
streets to be resurfaced will be bid at the same time as the
resurfacing. The completion date of the concrete work will be 45
days after the notice to proceed has been issued. Therefore, any
paving work scheduled prior to the concrete completion date will
be the responsibility of the paving contractor to coordinate with
the concrete contractor.
All contractors and subcontractors involved with the project will,
to the extent practicable, use Ohio products, materials, services,
and labor in the implementation of their project. Additionally,
contractor compliance with the Equal Employment Opportunity
requirements of Ohio Administrative Code Chapter 123, the
Governor's Executive Order of 1972, and Governor's Executive Order
84-9 shall be required.
BIDDER must comply with the prevailing wage rates on Public
Improvements in Miami County and the City of Piqua, Ohio as
determined by the Ohio Bureau of Employment Services, Wage and
Hour Division, (614) 644-2239.
No BIDDER shall withdraw his Bid after the actual opening thereof.
The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all Bids, waive
irregularities in any Bid, and to accept any Bid which is deemed
by Owner to be most favorable to the Owner.
